Description
The AH-64D Apache Longbow is an advanced version of the all-weather attack helicopter AH-64A Apache, which was developed and adopted in
accordance with the U.S. Army's Advanced Attack Helicopter (AAH) program . The model not equipped with radar was called the AH-64C, but at the end of 1993, the AH-64C designation was abolished, and regardless of whether it was equipped with radar or not, it was called the AH-64D Apache Longbow.
The most distinctive feature of the onboard sensors is the
fire control radar (FCR), also known as the longbow radar, mounted on the top of the main rotor mast, which
detects and identifies targets, automatically selects attack targets, and
is integrated.
It is a new generation attack helicopter that has excellent control capabilities during combat due to its advanced system management .
The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force has decided to introduce the AH-64D Apache Longbow as a successor to the AH-1S . The first aircraft for the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force made its maiden flight on
December 15, 2004 in Mesa, Arizona, USA, and after undergoing various tests for one year, it was delivered to Fuji Heavy Industries in Utsunomiya on December 18, 2005, and rebuilt. Assembly took place. At this time, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force specification equipment is also being installed.
The first and second units of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force's AH-64D
were manufactured by Boeing in the United States, but
Fuji Heavy Industries plans to manufacture about half of the subsequent aircraft under license.
On March 16, 2006, Unit 1 took a ferry to the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Akeno Garrison.
From now on, various tests and inspections will be conducted at Akeno, and the aircraft will proceed to actual combat deployment.
