Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How come the installments option isn't showing up for me?

A: Shop Pay Installments is available for orders over $50 USD (including shipping and taxes). If you order is under $50 USD, the option will not show up. It is also unavailable for orders that contain gift cards. 

 

Q: I want to pay in installments but it won't accept my credit card.

A: Shop Pay Installments will not work with Capital One credit cards, due to Capital One's rules. Shop Pay Installments also will not accept prepaid debit cards or prepaid credit cards.

 

Q: Is it like a credit card?   

A: Not exactly. When you use Shop Pay Installments, you will be prompted to enter your own card information, and the payments will be charged to that card every two weeks.

 

Q: When my preorder item arrives, can I pay for it in installments?

A: Yes! When your preorder item arrives and we invoice you for it, you'll be taken through the checkout process, where you'll be able to select Shop Pay Installments as your payment method.

 

Q: I've used Shop Pay Installments before, but it's not working now. What happened?

A: If you change your Shop Pay phone number, then you also need to update your phone number with Affirm before you can pay for another purchase using Shop Pay Installments. Q: Payments every two weeks is too frequent for me. Are there other options? 

A: For orders between $50 and $999.99 USD (including shipping and taxes), you can split your purchase into four bi-weekly, interest-free installment payments. There are no additional charges, interest rates, or late fees for this option, and your credit score isn't affected. You can pay with a credit card or debit card.

For orders between $150 to $17,500 USD (including shipping and taxes), you can split your purchase into monthly installment payments. While there are no late fees for monthly installment payments, your order IS subject to interest fees. Your credit score isn't affected when you apply, but it can change if you don't make your payments on time. If you pay for your order in monthly installments, you can only pay with a debit card.

After you make your first payment at checkout, you'll be charged either biweekly or monthly, depending on the installment payment option you  choose. You'll be reminded by email and SMS text (if applicable) before each payment is charged to your card. However, you can't customize your payment schedule.

 

Q: Can I change my automatic payment method for an existing Shop Pay Installments order?

A: You can change your automatic payment method on a Shop Pay Installments order while it's in repayment. However, you can't use Capital One cards or prepaid debit cards as a payment method. If you've opted into monthly payments, then you can only pay with a debit card.

Going forward, the new payment method will be used for payments on this order. If you want to update your payment method or multiple Shop Pay Installments orders, then you need to change your automatic payment method for each order.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR AUTOMATIC PAYMENT IN THE SHOP APP:
1. From the Home tab in the Shop app, tap the order you want to change.
2. Tap View Installments, and then tap Manage.
3. Select the new payment method that you want to use. If you need to add a new payment method, then tap Add card, and complete the required fields.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR AUTOMATIC PAYMENT ON A WEB BROWSER: 
1. Sign into your Shop Pay account.
2. In the overflow menu in the top right corner, click Orders.
3. Select the order that you want to update your payment method for.
4. In the Automatic payments section, click Edit.
5. Select a payment method from the drop-down menu, or use a different card.
6. Click Update.
7. Click Continue.
