Description
USS Kitty Hawk, lead ship in her class of multi-role aircraft carriers, was laid down in December 1956 and constructed by the New York Ship building Corporation at Camden New Jersey. Launched on May 21st 1960 and commissioned at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard on April 29th 1961, Kitty Hawk was originally designated CVA-63 (Aircraft Carrier, Attack, #63), re-designated CV-63 (non-nuclear) in May 1975. Kit features 1-piece full hull, detailed flight deck and hangar deck, detailed superstructure, full weapons suite, ships crane, ships boats, deck fittings, extensive photo-etched details, deck vehicles, aircraft - (E2C Hawkeye (x2), EA-6B Prowler (x5), HH-60H Rescue hawk (x2), F/A-18C Super Hornet (x12)).
