Description
The EMD SD40 is an American 6-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors. Between 1966 and 1972, GM built 1268 of these locomotives before introducing the new SD40-2. The SD40s operated throughout the US and Canada for decades. Broadway Limited Imports is proud to announce our first production of these diesel models in 2023. Our first run will include models of ten different railroads with prototypically accurate road numbers, paint schemes, and road-specific details and lighting. In addition to the Paragon4 version, each model is available in our Stealth Series. These are No-Sound / DCC-Ready models that operate on DC out of the box, or a modeler can easily install their DCC decoder of choice. Out of the box, Front and rear lights are directional, and other lights are always ON with track power. Additionally some lighting functions may be missing depending on selected aftermarket decoder the modeler installs. Broadway Limited Imports is proud to re-introduce our Stealth Series. Our Stealth Series provides customers with the ability to purchase highly detailed steam and diesel locomotives at a lower price. Stealth Series models are DCC-Ready with a standard MTC21 pin on the DC Motherboard. For more information about Stealth Series models, please see our Products Page or click here. ** For modelers intending to install a sound decoder, please note that most of our Stealth Series models will come with an 8 ohm speaker already installed and ready to use if desired. However, our SD40 models do not have this speaker installed. SD40 speaker assemblies will be available to purchase from our customer service department.
