Description
Entering service in 1989, the Dash 8-40CW was the first in General Electric’s line of road diesels to feature the North American Safety Cab (otherwise known as the wide-cab design). It would set the standard for the basic appearance of all GE locomotives for the next two decades, becoming an icon of North American freight railroading. Bachmann’s Dash 8-40CW features newly added operating ditch lights, a TCS Sound Value DCC package for sound, speed, direction, and lighting control, and comes ready-to-run on both analog and DCC-equipped layouts.
Additional features include:
• DCC Sound Value-equipped for sound, speed, direction, and lighting control
• Keep-Alive device that keeps your engine running during power interruptions due to
dirty track or loss of electrical contact
• dual-mode NMRA-compliant decoder
• operating headlight and ditch lights
• all-wheel drive
• blackened metal wheels with RP25 contours
• E-Z Mate Mark II couplers
