Description
In February 1950, Volkswagen CEO
Heinrich Nordhoff
introduced a convenient transporter called Type 2.
The Type 2, which was created by combining the Beetle's suspension and box-shaped body,
was the second best-selling model after the Beetle.
The Type 2 started in March 1950 as a commercial vehicle called the Delivery Van, and
since then various variations and models have been added.
The Samba microbus , a combination that gained popularity as a convenient cargo vehicle,
was a model that was useful not only for private use, but also for transportation and business use.
The first-generation Type 2, produced from 1950 to 1966, remains a popular model thanks to its
two-piece front window and a wide variety of body variations.
