Description

In November 1970, Bertone unveiled the original Stratos at the Turin Motor Show, and
the Marcello Gandini-designed Stratos was greeted with great excitement.

In November 1971, a second prototype car was presented to Lancia,
which featured a completely new design with a mid-engine layout, and
the aim of development was to win the WRC title.

The following year, the Stratos participated in various rallies as a prototype
, and preparations for mass production progressed, and
production of the Stratos began in October 1973.

The body of the mass-produced car is a monocoque with a steel center, and the
front and rear cowls are made of FRP.The cowl can be opened wide, making it easy to maintain.
The engine is equipped with a V65 degree 6-cylinder DOHC developed for Ferrari's Dino 246GT, and the
Stratos has changed its setup to emphasize low-speed torque, producing a
maximum output of 190ps/7,000rpm. Generates a torque of 23.0kg/4,000rpm.

The suspension is equipped with double wishbones at the front and MacPherson strut coils at the rear,
and is designed to allow a wide range of adjustment even on a production vehicle.

Since the Stratos was developed as a rally car, it has minimal equipment, and
like its exterior dimensions, the interior is not spacious, but
the input of works driver Sandro Munari, who is 180 cm tall,
has been incorporated to the maximum extent.

500 mass-produced cars were produced, and
Group 4 homologation was obtained in October 1974.The
Stratos continued to be popular, and an additional 500 were produced.

The Stratos made its debut at the Sanremo Rally, Round 5 of the 1974 WRC, and
won that season's makes title. The Stratos, developed as the world's first purpose-built machine , is a representative of
the 1970s, with its strength remaining undiminished in 1975 and 1976, when it entered the race in earnest, achieving the
feat of winning the Makes title for three consecutive years. It is a supercar that remains popular as a rally car.
