Description

Built in 1978 by Greenville Steel Car Company, this 3420 cu. ft. open hopper was painted blue with the large “Route Rock ” logo. Eventually, it made its way to the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad under series 50000-51299. The Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad is a Class II railroad that operates between Conneaut, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and began operations in 1869. In 2004, the B&LE was purchased by Canadian National Railway, and it continues to operate as a subsidiary today.
