Description
U.S. Navy Torpedo Bomber TBF-1 - Academy 12452
Originally intended as a torpedo bomber during World War II, the TBF-1 Avenger filled many roles, including close support, training, and air patrol. As the biggest single-engine airframe of the war, the Avenger began production in 1940 and was delivered to the US Navy just in time for the Battle of Midway. In 1942, TBF-1s were delivered to VT-8 squadron at NAS Norfolk. Six aircraft were sent to Midway, where they fought Japanese naval forces. This Academy kit with over 45 plastic parts faithfully recreates the U.S. Navy Torpedo Bomber TBF-1 in 1:72 scale.
