UP Business Car “Lincoln” (HO Scale)
Broadway Limited Imports is excited to bring back our popular UP business car #101 “Lincoln” with new decoration to recreate this year’s most popular steam excursion.
Built in 1950 by Pullman-Standard as Coach No. 5447, Union Pacific car #101 has been a familiar sight in UP’s excursion consists. It was originally named “Pocatello,” after Shoshone Chief Pocatello, and kept that name until 2001.
That year, the car underwent a major interior overhaul and received brand-new wood furnishings. Following the refurbishment, it was renamed “Lone Star” in recognition of Union Pacific’s operations in Texas, the Lone Star State.
In 2020, the car was transformed again, receiving a refreshed interior design and a new name, “Lincoln,” to honor President Abraham Lincoln, who signed the Pacific Railway Act that led to the creation of Union Pacific.
Today, “Lincoln” is a signature car in UP’s excursion fleet, often found at the rear, or sometimes in the middle, of special trains. It has been pulled by both steam and diesel locomotives and most recently carried the Big Boy Tour drumhead during the summer of 2024, when Big Boy No. 4014 toured California and the Midwest.
This production run brings two new appearances. If you want to model Big Boy 4014’s cross-country tour for the 250th anniversary, these cars are the accurate additions to your consist. Item 10848 matches the East Coast Tour version, with the UP shield on the rear, and item 10849 matches the West Coast Tour version, with a lighted drumhead. Each car features the “America 250” logo, correctly placed on the side of the car. These are the first accurate UP business cars on the market with the appropriate decoration to celebrate this historic cross-country excursion.
