JV Models 1013 Mainline Water Tower -- 2-1/8 x 2-1/8 x 4-1/8" 5.4 x 5.4 x 10.5cm, N Scale

Wood model - not for beginners (this was my first wood model). It is very realistic looking compared to plastic. The picture on the box is not what you build. The instructions have you building a frost box under the tower, you don't have to build it though- but as you read the instructions over a few times you find there are pieces missing so you will want the frost box to add strength. There is a parts list, and all pieces are accounted for. The instructions want you to build bent braces on 6 bents. Thats 12 braces. They only provide enough material for 4 bents to have braces which is 8 braces. The instructions suggest "if you want to put the rods in" well the rods add A LOT of support to the structure and since you will not have enough braces for your bents - you will need rods! Well, they don't give enough rods to do what they show in their photo, so you have to pick and choose where your rods go. I had some material on hand to add my own - but they are not the same gauge. The reference photo shows 7 bands around the tower, but the written instructions tell you to do 9. There were many things that had me following my own instructions rather than theirs. No hatch on the roof? Added my own, thanks! This model was very frustrating, had I not had the extra rods on hand the model would not have stood a chance in my novice hands. Also, it is quite tall. It could probably be an inch shorter and be just fine prototypically speaking. Have fun with it and make it your own. Despite the list of things I found wrong or confusing inside the kit, I think it came out nice for my first wood model.
