Description
Easily one of the most remarkable trains in the West, only the spectacular scenery passing outside the windows outmatched the Empire Builder's accommodations. The Great Northern began upgrading the train in 1951 and started adding dome cars in 1955. While the ranch cars, diners and sleeping quarters were all first rate, the views offered by the domes were the trains' main attraction. Lionel is proud to introduce one of our most requested passenger trains. Representing the consist in 1955, our train is complete with RPO, coach, diner, Pullman, observation and of course, domes! Power for the train at this time was typically an A-B-A set of F7s. A second B unit was added with the arrival of the Great Domes in the fall of 1955. We've taken care of the train - all you have to do is recreate the Rocky Mountain scenery for your O scale passengers to enjoy!
