Description
If one military vehicle prompts more thoughts of D-Day than any other, it’s arguably the amphibious DUKW. With this in mind, Italeri has reissued its own 1/35 tooling in a D-Day-branded box. The kit (6392) was first issued in 2002 and has reappeared on various occasions since, with different equipment fits. Here, it’s offered in its basic transport format, with markings for two Normandy invasion vehicles, another employed for the Rhine crossing in 1945 and finally the Iwo Jima landings in the Pacific Theatre. I still find it odd that firms such as Dragon and Tamiya have never tooled a DUKW in any scale. In lieu of those non-existent products, Italeri’s kit has been the go-to item… although I Love Kit has released a new-tool 1/35 DUKW recently, but we have yet to see it.
