Description
The streamlined, powerful SP GS4 4-8-4 steam locomotives were the choice of high-speed passenger service in the Southwest until they were superseded by diesels in the late 1950s. In a choice of two distinctive “Daylight” color schemes plus the red, white, and blue Bicentennial model, our 4-8-4 now includes our Sound Value SoundTraxx® steam package with authentic prototypical chuff, short and long whistles, bell, air pump, steam release, and blower—all in 16-bit polyphonic sound. The preserved and still running #4449 has had many different paint schemes, but this model is the current version.
Features include:
- DCC sound-equipped
- dual-mode NMRA-compliant decoder
- precision motor
- operating headlight
- separately applied metal parts
- see-through frame
- RP25 wheels
- E-Z Mate® Mark II couplers
Performs best on 22" radius curves or greater.
