Description
The Shinden was Japan's first canard-wing fighter developed to intercept heavy bombers .
This method makes effective use of the space inside the aircraft and
allows for a smaller fuselage size.
Since the front wing can generate lift, the main wing can also be smaller,
which is extremely effective in terms of weight and drag, and
has many advantages in the development of high-speed fighter aircraft.
Another major feature is that it can be equipped with a large-caliber machine gun concentrated in the nose.
Although great expectations were placed on the Shinden, it was not ready in time for actual combat, and the
war ended after the first prototype made three 45-minute flights.
