Description
Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 - Academy 12467
The Bf-109E was the first German 109 series aircraft to be mass-produced. Sometimes, the aircraft has been mistakenly referred to as a Me-109. The abbreviation, “Bf”, stands for Bayerische Flugzeugwerke or, in English, "Bavarian Aircraft Works". 1938 Messerschmitt acquired the Bavarian Aircraft Works, but the Bf-109E retained the "Bf" registration. At the end of 1939, the Bf-109E replaced the other 109 versions in service and equipped thirteen Gruppens (40 Bf-109Es each). The aircraft served as the primary single-engine fighter until the arrival of the Fw-190. The "G" series fitted with the DB605 engine would serve in front-line service until the end of WWII. This Academy kit with over 55 plastic parts faithfully recreates the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 in 1:72 scale.
