Description
Along with a long standing and rich heritage, The UP maintains a fleet of historic locomotives and rolling stock for use at public day events and special business trips; these “excursion trips” are an opportunity for the railroad to show actual operational railroad history to new generations of railroad fans both young and old.
UPP 814 and 809, better known as “Joe Jordan” and “Jim Adams” are a pair of unique, re-built Tenders which serve as water carriers for Union Pacific’s Steam Locomotives such as the FEF-3 #844. These heavily modified cars have seen service as both Steam and Gas Turbine Electric fuel tenders before finally settling into their current forms as part of UP's steam heritage fleet, where they are a necessary addition to any excursion outing to keep the thirsty steamers moving.
Both water tenders have built-in electrical pickup and can be upgraded with an optional market light board (sold separately) to give them an illuminated marker light on either side.
Each tender is uniquely modeled to capture the differences between these one-of-a-kind cars.
